HUCHUY QOSQO

The adventure begins very early to move to the town of Umasbamba, the starting point of our hike where we will warm up first before the activity. We start with a vertical ascent from the main square until having a better view of the beautiful Piuray lagoon. Once we reach the first pass, we will be on the Puna altitude floor, and on the other side, we will find the Qellwaqocha lagoon, from here the ascent is a little more gradual and mixed until we reach the main apachetas, the highest point of the hike where we can appreciate the Qoriqocha lagoon and the beginning of the well-preserved Inca trail, part of the old Qhapaqñan. Starting the descent, the walk becomes more pleasant, and we begin to see the transition of the altitudinal floors until we reach the community of Puka Marka, where we will find a beautiful natural formation known as Puma Punku. Once we have reached this point, we will take a short break to have lunch and recover our energy. We will continue the hike until reaching the ancient site of the Inca Wiraqocha known as Huch’uy Qosqo, an impressive archaeological site where we will make a brief visit before beginning the last stage. Like the beginning, the final part is a vertical descent until the bottom of the valley, the ending point of our adventure. We will take our transportation that will take us back to the hotel.
