CUSCO: Half-Day Tour

The city adventure can take place in the morning or in the afternoon. We will begin the service by picking you up from your hotel and heading to the Temple of the Sun, or Qorikancha, the most important religious center of the Inca culture. Here, we will appreciate the finest example of Andean architecture, blended with the beauty of the current Santo Domingo Convent. Next, we will continue our journey to the outskirts of the city to visit the archaeological site of Tambomachay, an ancient water shrine where rituals honoring water were performed. We will then proceed to the archaeological site of Qenqo, an ancient temple and ceremonial center for the former Inca rulers. The tour concludes with the impressive archaeological site of Saqsaywaman, which once formed the head of the ancient Inca city. Considered by the Spanish and chroniclers as a military fortress due to its architectural style and elevated location overlooking the Cusco valley, historians now believe it was built for religious purposes. After the visit, we will return by vehicle to the city center.
