APU SENQA: Umasbamba, Senqa, Apukunaq Tianan

The adventure begins very early going to the community of Umasbamba located very close to the Laguna de Piuray. This will be the starting point of our excursion. After a brief body warm-up, we will start the ascent to the top of the mountain. The first part will show us a beautiful landscape and a contrast between the different altitudinal floors, where we will have stops to take short breaks and take the opportunity to capture the best moments. Once arrived at the first pass, the hike will take place on the altitude floor of the Puna. The most important moment of the day will be reaching the top of Apu Senqa, the ancient protective spirit of the inhabitants of the area. From here we will have a privileged view of the Andes and a part of the city of Cusco. This will be the perfect point for our lunch, hydration, and a short break. Next, we will begin to descend the mountain until we reach an old colonial aqueduct known as “Fortaleza” and then we will briefly visit the new tourist attraction: the famous cave sculptures known as “Apukunaq Tianan”. Finally, we will take the transportation that will take us back to the hotel.
